Safety Principles

Please review our safety principles to understand how we approach safety for the people who use and interact with our robots and AI.

Last updated October 23, 2026

At Realbotix, safety is designed in from the start. Our robots and the AI that powers them are built with clear boundaries, transparent AI disclosure, and privacy-first data handling, so people can interact with them with confidence.

This page outlines the principles that guide how we build and operate our robots and AI.

1. Bounded agency model

A core set of safety rules guides how our AI behaves. Customers can tailor a persona’s personality, but these rules are designed to stay in place however a persona is customized.

2. Built-in conversational boundaries

Our AI is designed to discourage unhealthy dependence, with conversational boundaries built in from the start.

3. Clear AI disclosure

Our robots and AI avatars are designed to make clear that you’re talking with an AI, not a person. Transparency like this is increasingly required by law, including California’s bot disclosure law and the EU AI Act, and we treat it as a baseline everywhere we operate.

4. Privacy-first data handling

Realbotix does not record or store your conversations; your conversation history stays on your Echo and paired device. To respond, Echo processes conversations live, in real time, using third-party AI providers.

Data from the Vinci Vision System, including the faces Echo learns to recognize, stays on Echo and in the Realbotix App on your phone. It is not stored in the cloud, and you can delete it in the app. See our Privacy Policy for details.

5. Safe use around Echo

Echo has motorized moving parts, including its head and face, and on full-body Echo, its arms and hands. To use it safely, follow these guidelines and any instructions we provide with your robot:

  • Place Echo on a stable, level surface with space around it to move, away from edges, water, and direct heat.
  • Keep hands, hair, loose clothing, and objects clear of Echo’s head, face, and other moving parts while it is operating.
  • To stop Echo, power it off by unplugging its power cable. Keep the cable and outlet within easy reach while Echo is in use.
  • Plug Echo into a standard household outlet using approved power equipment. Do not use damaged cables or power equipment, and keep electrical parts dry.
  • Do not open, modify, or repair Echo yourself. If it appears damaged, overheats, or behaves unexpectedly, unplug it and contact us.

6. Supervision and the people around Echo

Supervise children and anyone needing assistance. Echo does not replace a caregiver or provide medical advice or emergency services. AI responses may be inaccurate.

Let people know when microphones, cameras, or recognition features are being used, and obtain consent where required.

7. Not an emergency or medical device

Realbotix robots and AI avatars are not designed to provide medical, mental health, or emergency services, and they may not recognize or respond appropriately to an emergency. If you or someone near you is in crisis, contact local emergency services (911 in the US) or call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

8. Report a safety concern

If you notice a safety issue with a Realbotix robot or AI avatar, or have safety questions, please contact us at contact@realbotix.com.
